Multi-batch Self-assembly for Microsystem Integration

چکیده
In this paper, we describe a parts-to-substrate self-assembly approach driven by surface tension. To perform assembly, the substrates are prepared with hydrophobic gold patterns as binding sites. The binding sites are activated by adsorption of an alkanethiolate self-assembled monolayer (SAM), while they can be de-activated by electrochemical reductive desorption of the monolayer. Therefore, assembly can be controlled to take place exclusively at desired activated sites. This assembly process can be repeated to organize different micro parts into a system. We develop and demonstrate a self-assembly protocol, including micro fabrication process, surface modification techniques, and electroplating as a post-assembly process, for the purpose of full system integration and packaging.

Enabling Capillary Self-Assembly for Microsystem Integration
Efficient and precise assembly of very-large quantities of sub-millimeter-sized devices onto pre-processed substrates is presently a key frontier for microelectronics, in its aspiration to large-scale mass production of devices with new functionalities and applications (e.g. thin dies embedded into flexible substrates, 3D microsystem integration). In this perspective, on the one hand establishe...

This paper presents a fully dry assembly method to obtain densely packed arrays of parts from 400-800μm in size. This approach shows promise for enabling formation of a module of n and p type materials optimized for micro scale thermoelectric cooling performance. INTRODUCTION Inertial force (mass of the assembled parts) plays a critical role for part alignment and orienting in a dry microassemb...
متن کاملSelf-assembly-based batch fabrication of nickel–iron nanowires by electroplating
The reason behind the majority of difficulties encountered in the integration of nanoscale objects with microelectromechanical systems can almost always be traced back to the lack of batch-compatible fabrication techniques at the nanoscale. On the one hand, self-assembly products do not allow a high level of control on their orientation and numbers, and hence, their attachment to a micro device...
متن کاملOPTIMIZATION OF MULTI PERIOD - MULTI LOCATION CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS CONSIDERING RESOURCE POOL AND BATCH ORDERING
During the past two decades, some industries have been moving towards project-centered systems in many modern countries. Therefore, managing simultaneous projects with considering the limitations in resources, equipment and manpower is very crucial. In the real world, project-based organizations are always facing with two main important features. First, the construction projects are decentraliz...
